Hi Julia I have quick question. Have you ever thought about having your books turned into movies?
Yes - the rights are available with my literary agent.

So is it looking like there will not be another Cat book published? Or will it be published later?
I don't know - I really don't! Some things aren't in my control.

Not sure what you mean, Lottie. There's an ebook and a print version.

Hello Julia, world book day is coming up, and in year 7 at BSG, we have to dress up as a character from our favourite book. As the Cat Royal series are my most favouritist (I know that's not a word!)ever ever ever books, you have inspired my to go as Cat Royal. I don't need to do much, as my hair is naturally red and curly, but I was wondering if you could possibly give me some tips on what clothes to wear. I was thinking, possibly a Victorian maid outfit and my leather boots?
Sounds good. Her era is a bit earlier but I don't think that will matter. If you've seen any Jane Austen films, that was the look.

Hello! I wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed Deadlock. It's a great book! Darcie leaps from one situation to another, and it really keeps my interest. I hope you can write a continuation soon! The ending was a bit of a cliffhanger. :)
I know. I intended to but the publisher cut me off so I'll have to do it on my own time.

Hello, Miss Golding! I love your Companions Quartet and I really wish you would do the fifth book that I heard is coming out! I really want to know the name! And please continue writing these series because they are the best ones I ever read! Please tell me when is the release date for the fifth book! I also want to know when you'll start writing the sixth, seventh, and eighth, because I hate endings! If I was a writer, I would keep on writing more and more series if I really think its worth it! I read the sample chapter from the Universal Companions, I think its named, and when I read it I thought "Oh no! Where did Connie and Col go?" But that book is nice too, but I'll plead and I'll keep pleading for more books on the Companions Quartet! I heard you're a bit busy with the Young Knights, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE promise you'll write a fifth book! Did you know that I didn't even dare to read the last book of the Companions Quartet because I was afraid that that was the very end of the books, but I don't want it to be! I have been telling you all the time the same thing: please write a fifth series! I am your biggest fan! I am going to go right away to take my assessment! I have a whole shelf of drawings, pictures, and whatever else I can do to get the books as close to reality as possible. I never miss my collection of the 4 books! I simply LOVE them. So, as I said before, please keep writing the books! Remember that I'm your biggest fan, and that I will still post lots on this site. Keep up the great writing! Melanie xxx
Hi Melanie Thanks for writing to me. You might enjoy Young Knights when it comes out in a few weeks - it has some of the same elements as the Companions Quartet but is a new fantasy trilogy. Do keep in touch and let me know what you think. Julia

Hi Julia, I have the original Cat Royal covers (the painted ones)and when I tried to buy Cats cradle on amazon (and some other websites)they didn't have them, I was just wondering if Cats cradle I think the cover is of hunters is published? Please answer, Thanks, from your biggest fan, Orlaith.
No, that wasn't ever put into production, only the photo one. I liked the old style best but it wasn't my decision in the end.

i really love your books, and wish to ask, "how did you take your steps to be a writer?" i wish to be a author when i grow up, and want to know the difficulties. please respond.
Hi Shruti First thing is to learn how to write a good book! This might sound obvious but you have to do the whole thing, not just have a good idea and lots of samples. The most difficult thing about writing is sustaining an idea, not having it in the first place.

Honey, Julia, I read a whole lot of your books "Confrontation." The book very much, and I would like to know, will be continued or not.
I'm not sure which book this is? Have you translated the title?
Cheryl Clark wrote on 21 February 2013:
My granddaughter Sienna really enjoyed the companion quartet and has requested Water Thief for her birthday. Is it available in print?? Many thanks, Cheryl Clark
Yes, Cheryl. It is an unusual book in that I did it for fun and so it is a print-on-demand book. On my front page there is a link to the physical copy via a reputable service called Lulu. I am just about to publish a new fantasy book your granddaughter may not yet know about - Young Knights of the Round Table. This is the usual kind of book available very soon through Waterstones etc.

Hi thank you so much for replying.:D if I had one question for you, it would be. how do you get from, the ideas and the people in your head, to the words, that almost seem to live on the page? thank you again.
Not sure there is an easy answer to that. You have to try many things before you find your voice that allows you to write what you can imagine. Writing is a craft not a spontaneous gift.

Hello Julia! Thx for your answer, I found Secret of the Sirens at my library in Sweden so that's why i dont really know how to send an addressed envelope to you, I Hope we can figure out Another way, By the way, The SPMC made companion to a Phoenix. I spotted Secret of the Sirens on my library after I had returned The Glass Swallow. I really love ur Books and its fun to get an answer from THE author herself! Best Regards Filippa
Hmm, yes that is more tricky. You'd need a UK European stamp for the SAE and to send the letter to my publisher, Children's Books, Oxford University Press.
Filippa wrote on 20 February 2013:
Hi Julia! I just finished reading Secret of the Sirens and then logged onto your companionsclub website. In the book it stood that you could get a badge, is it too late for that??
Fraid so. The book came out in 2006 but I suppose the books still have that page in them as they were printed a few years back. Many apologies. I have some stickers if you want to send me a stamped addressed envelope via my publishers. What creature did the site link you to?
Ellie wrote on 19 February 2013:
Hi Julia, I was just wondering, will there be another Darcie Lock book? And if so roughly when will it come out? Thanks, Ellie
Hi Ellie Not at the moment as I would have to self-publish and I'm busy with contracted books at the moment. Sorry about the wait : ( Have you tried my Joss Stirling books? They are teen thrillers too.
