Hey Miss Golding, I am a friend of rabia's- if you remember going through her email. I did send you a message before but I don't think it worked becasue it never came up among the other messages. So here I am typing once more. I just wanted to do this because I really do like your book and, I like the way how you made the words simple to understand but the storyline facinating and unique. Rabia and I only found your book in the school library because of its colours. It caught our eyes. Well I hope you all the best in your future publication and I hope that I will enjoy all of them.

Hi Layah If you write to my publisher they can forward your request for an autograph to me (please don't send your address online). The fourth book is the last in the quartet. Julia

Hi its been a long time since i wrote but ive been reading every day, I have now read both secrets of the sirens and the gorgons gaze twice just to keep me from getting over excited about the 4th book and the fifth book and i cant believe that the 4th book is actually coming out on my birthday YIPPEEE! but I actually wanted to know, in the companions quartet books do Connie and Col get a bit more closer.
Hi Rachael Hmm...well, that would be telling. Julia

Hi Julia! Sorry i havent been on in ages! I've read Cat among the pidgeons AGES ago and i just bought Den of Thieves yesterday! I'm already half way through! I'd just like to point out that i spotted Signor Antelli and Signor Angelini (Companions and Cat)! I take it you like that name! :D Anyway, im also saving up for your other book, The Ship Between The Worlds. What is it about? Anyway, i was wondering if i could get another badge and card as i have lost all of my Companion certificates and such when moving to my dads and back. I'm sorry if this is an inconvenience! Is it possible?
Hi Lewis Nice to hear from you again. I suggest you email the companions site explaining your problem about the badge and I'm sure it can be arranged. The people who distribute the badges seem to have gone very quiet recently - I hope they wake up for Minotaur which is creeping into the shops even as we speak. My Italian names are different - Angelini is based on angel, Antonelli is just because I liked it. They share the first two letters though as you've spotted, but then I also seem to like 'c' don't I? Cat, Col, Connie... Note that the hero of Ship is called David - a deliberate attempt to break the pattern. Julia

hi i love your cat royal series i can never put them down!! i feel quite sorry for syd though!! i was wondering if you could tell me when cat4 comes out because i really cant wait!! can you leave us some teasers? please please!
Hi Alisha Teasers? Well, I don't kill everyone off. I don't make Cat into a princess left on the doorstep by mistake. Hmm... that's probably not what you meant. Ok then. Syd takes a big role. Cat goes to sea under protest. She and Billy have a close encounter. Is that enough? Julia

charlotte wrote on 11 February 2007:

What date will Cat 4 be released because it does not say on your site and can i please have your autograph please !!!
Hi Charlotte If you write to my publisher with your address, I can send you an autograph (please don't tell me your address on line). Cat 4 comes out in August, though if Den is anything to go by it will be in the shops earlier. Julia

Hi, Ive just finished reading the first two books in the series of Cat Royal. They're absolutely great. I feel really sorry for Syd though. Im on to Den of Thieves and cant wait to finish it!! I think your books are great, Im just wondering where you get such fantastic ideas from. I used to live in the Eastend of london, the Isle of Dogs but I am now living in Worcestershire. I really liked thew way you got the cockney accent into the book with Billy Boil. I cant wait to finish Den of thieves but I think Ill go mad if I dont get my hands on the next book.
Hi Beatrice Ideas come from all sorts of places - sometimes spontaneous such as Cat's decision to take refuge in Westminster School in Pigeons. I hope you enjoy Den. Julia

I have only read the Secret Of The Sirens but I am already loving it. I am looking forward to reading your other books in the Companions Quartet. Everyone I know, and including me, says that Connie and Col do sound like they would become the cutest couple in Hescombe. I also love the colours of the front after. I say this because I am into art. Is there any other books that are would be similar to this?
Hi Rabia From me, you might like The Ship Between the Worlds, out in April. I'm not sure if they are a close match to what you want, but I like the fantasy stories of Garth Nix, Susan Cooper and Tamora Pierce. Julia

Hi Ms Golding Its me Hafsa again. I am now 10. Thank you for your reply to my message 2 weeks ago. I finished cat among the pigeons after 1 week. I thought it was even better than the first because it was more adventurous. My best part of the book was when Cat was pretending to be a boy. I was so scared she was going to get caught. BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT!!! I will write again when I have read Den of thieves. My mum has got me secret of the sirens which I have just started. I'm sure it will be just as good as the Cat books. Bye for now. from Hafsa

I think you are the best author in the world. I would really love to know if you are going to make a film out of the cat series?
Hi Lily Thanks for the very high praise! I'm afraid I'm not able to make a film but I'd be happy for someone else to take on the project. There is an audio tape of Diamond with BBC audio books. Julia
