Hi Julia thanks, that made me feel load better, I have ordered the fourth Cat Royal book and I really can't wait for it to arrive. I also think that I have made some new friends (Cat, Frank,Syd...) I really like Syd. I wish i could be more like Cat though she is so brave and knows how to stand up for herself, even if her language is a bit rude... but that is what makes her Cat Royal. :-)

Hi Julia Reg: Harrods book signing - Can we bring books with us for you to sign or are you only signing the books that are for sale. I'm going to buy Chimera's curse for Hafsa but she wants her diamond and darcie books signed too. Also she wants to know if you got her last message because it hasn't shown up - I think because it included answers to competition too. She's a bit concerned in case message didn't get sent. See you on the 12th Farida
Hi Farida I've no problem signing books you already have. I'll mention it to the Waterstone's staff when I get there. There won't be a queue or anything - just me and a big table full of books to sign for their collectors. And yes, I did receive Hafsa's message and put it with the other entries. Julia

Kirsty! I am in my teens as well, and I think Cat is great (so your not the only one!). I think some of the best books out there are childrens books, and that definitely includes Cat for me. Keep going Julia! I loved number 4 PS - you said Cat was named after a Queen. What Queen was that??
Hi Lizzie, Wife of Charles II. Also you can read it as a covert reference to possible Irish catholic sympathies of Sheridan. Julia

Hello again! Sorry to keep annoying you but can you please give me a really good writing tip- i've to write a story for english and I was wondering if you could help me- it's to be about a traveller and part of it has to be set in a forest HELP ME PLEASE!! Nicola
Hi Nicola Have you ever been to a forest? If you have, write a few notes down of what you saw and felt. It usually helps if you base things on something you know. Julia

Hi Julia, Have been a keen reader of your Cat books. Now I wonder if you can help me. I have been searching for a map of Paris 1750 for a childrens book I am writing, and note you have one in Den of Thieves, could you possibly tell me where you found it., as I am having no success. Regards Honor Wilson
Hi Honor I got that from the Bodleian Library in Oxford. They have an excellent map room and have provided maps for most of the recent Cat books. Julia

Rachael wrote on 04 September 2007:

hi julia i just wanted to tell you ive finished reading the chimera's curse book and i didn't stop once (except i had to stop to bounce up and down with pleasure) and i read all through the night. The best parts for me in this book were the parts on Col and Connie (obviously). Which makes me wonder it says that the weather giants and other "angry" mythical creatures won't leave the war or whatever quote, so does that mean you'll be doing another book on the companions quartet and if u do please do NOT split Col and Connie up.
Hi Rachael I left the door open for a future for the characters as, of course, they have the rest of their lives to live and lots of problems/pleasures to experience. Whether or not I'll write another book in this series, I can't say at the moment but I have lots of ideas how things unfold for Connie and Col. Julia

Hi- I don't know if you remember meeting me but I was at the Edinburgh book festival- Charlotte Walker was with me and my lil sister!! You will be pleased to know that Charlotte and I haven;'t told anyone the secret you told us!!! You will also be pleased to know that I recommend your books to everyone I meet- I even convinced my english teacher to maybe do "Diamonds of Drury Lane" as a class reading book!! We were in the school library and I was delighted to see that the school library had finally seen sense and put some of your books on the shelfs!! My friend mel couldn't find anything to read so I told her to take the 1st companions book!! I was delighted because I found the 2nd companions book on the shelf- I couldn't buy it cause I was skint!! I read the 1st companions book in 3 days straight- I actually couldn't put it down!! If you have the time could you reply Nicola =] P.s.- sorry this message is so long- I always have lots to say!! P.p.s- My sister and I signed up for the companions club and our badges still haven;t arrived- we signed up when we got back from edinburgh the day we saw you- any ideas what's taking so long??
Hi Nicola Lovely to see you in Edinburgh. The badges are sent out in batches every few months (not by me). Just hang on: something should turn up eventually! Julia

Hi Julia, I was wondering if you were thinking of doing a guide to the mythical creatures in you companions book and other ones which are not mentioned. If you do write it then I think it should included information about the creature, what makes it mythical, companion info and a introduction on the society. Tell me what you think about it, From Alex.
Hi Alex That's a good idea. I'll salt it away and see if an opportunity arrives to do it. Julia

Mischa wrote on 04 September 2007:

Hi Julia! Thanks for putting the Cat site on here - it's doing quite well! I've made a new "Fan-fiction" page and put on the story by Katie on it. The polls are doing quite well too. These one's have the most interesting results, I think: 7 people thought a Cat movie would be great, 1 person said it should stay as a book and another person said it could be worth a try. For favourite characters - Cat (4 votes) Lord Francis (3 votes) J-F (2 votes) Billy "Boil" (1 vote) Charlie Hengrave (1 vote) Unfortunately no votes for Pedro, Syd or Johnny Smith! (3 of my 5 fave characters! (which also include Cat and J-F)) I also have a question, if you don't mind, Julia - you say that someone is considering adapting The Diamond for the stage - do you have a bit more info on this yet? I think it's a great idea! Please give us updates about it! Thanks, Mischa xxx
Hi Mischa Very early days yet - it could all fizzle out, but I'll keep you posted. One of my favourite characters is Captain Bennington-Smythe. Julia
