Hi Julia, Cat o' nine tails unfortunately isnt out yet in Inverness. I've been looking in Borders and on the library homepage but nothing so far. I'm having trouble with my story. I would love to be a writer but i have 3 problems. 1. I have too many ideas that i want to put into the book but it just won't work. 2. I want the writing of my book to be like yours in your books but it doesnt look the same. 3. I'M VERY IMPATIENT I'd like to know if you ever had any of these problems and if so, how did you solve them. I would love to be an excellent author like you but I haven't even got past the 1st chapter yet. HELP PLEASE!!! P.S My fave character out of all your books has to be either Cat from the Cat Royal Series or Connie from the Companions Quartet. How do you make your characters so alive???
Hi Millie What a lot of problems! First thing is that you should be able to get Cat 4 in Inverness - it's not that far away! Ask them to order it for you. As for your issues, have a look at the tips at the top of this page. For living characters you need to spend time thinking through what your characters are like, make notes, ask questions, get someone else to ask you questions... Julia

Yay!!! I'm screaming already!! Thats made me so happy. I understand the problem of having girl friemds, but I realised thats why her love life is so complicated is cos she only seems to know lads! Blackheart is the next one, right? I'll just have to wait and see! (the key word there is wait. w-a-i-t. Total torture. I'm not very patient ;) )

Hi Julia long time no speak. Im on holidays and I need a book! Ive read what most people suggest: Tamore Pierce Philip Pullman Susan Cooper Tolkien The Percy Jackson books and the Pagan Chronicles. Is there any thing else you can suggest? If there is i owe you my life! Thanks Ellie
Hi Ellie If you are a teen, I would recommend the Pellinnor books by Alison Croggan, and Trudi Canavan's Magicians' Guild. Garth Nix Sabriel too. Enjoy. Julia

Hmm. I thought I'd been commenting for a while, but lots of other people are suddenly called Lizzie, so I'll change it a bit ;) I have to say that I'm in the 'bring Charlie back!' group, cos I loved the 'sister' relationship thing, but please Julia, if you dont want to, just ignore me, cos I'd hate for you to try to add things to the plot just for your fans, and for them to not quite work (not that this could ever happen. You are an AMAZING writer!) (But just so that you know, if he ever makes another appearance, I will scream very loudly with joy!) The other thing is, does cat have any friends who are girls?! I'd love to see another London girl like her, but maybe she just feels more like a lad herself? Anyway, Thanks Julia, for this great site, and for taking the time to another comments
Hi BusyLIzzie Prepare to scream for joy sometime later next year. Yes, Cat does have girlfriends - wait for Blackheart. The problem I have is that well behaved girls wouldn't be allowed to go around like Cat and I don't want another character too much like her. I have a solution though. Julia

Hi julia I love your books.I've read all of the Cat series so far and all of the companions books. It was my bday a few days ago and 2 of my best presents were 2 signed copies of your books. my fav series was the companions quartet. I was so sad when that ended but now I've got even more of your books to read. After the cat series has finished is there any thing else u would recommend that is similar? Lizzy
Hi Lizzy Cat will keep on going till 2010 so you don't have to worry for the moment! Julia
