Hi Josh You should try Ship between the worlds too - it's closest to the companions. Julia

Me... Again. Few questions =P. Where do you get your ideas from? And how do you stay patient when writing? I try writing my own stories outside of school but I feel it won't get any where and give up. So instead I role play on RPG sites cause it makes it's own story.
Hi Isabel Have a look at the FAQs at top of the page. As for patience, I think it's more about being immersed in the story and it then doesn't fail or run out of steam - just keep on dreaming, adding layers to your characters. Julia

Could you please make Cat Royal into a movie? It would be so cool if you did. I think it would make a good movie. Emily
Hi Emily I'd love to - but I'm an author not a film maker. I hope someone does come forward to do that one day. Julia

Hi Julia! It's been a long time since I last wrote - I've been very busy with homework. Anyhow, all my school friends are fighting over your books! They've formed a mini queue as to who's going to read The Diamond Of Drury Lane next - they've been borrowing he book from the library and I've had to lend out my own copy because they're so impatient! Haha a few of them are reading the squels now. The website's been doing fairly well too. Bye for now! Mischa xxx
Hi Mischa Good to hear from you. Julia

Hello! I love your Cat Royal Books, they inspire me soooooo much. My favourite one so far has to be either the first one or the fourth! In fact no, they are all my favourites!!!!!!!! I am a bit romantic obsessed, so i do like the developing chemistry between the characters. Especially Cat and Frank - i think they are so sweet when they are together! I would like your help on something if that's alright please? I have been writing for a few years now and my dreams inspire my stories, the problem is i never get inspired to finish them. I have so many stories that are just left and never end - do you know a way that would make it possible for me to finish my stories? I also think that the Cat Royal books would be totally immense as films!!!!!!!!! They would be absolutely fantastic! Many Thanks Jessica p.s i can't wait for the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Cat Royal...and also Dragonfly!
Hi Jessica How to keep going with writing - that is a very common problem. The best defence against 'fizzle-out syndrome' is to plan before you start writing. Also read it too a trusted friend when you get stuck, they might be able to help, not so much with ideas but enthusiasm and questions. Julia

hi Julia, i know lots of people have sent you messages but please can you reply to my questions. How old is cat ? At first i thorght she was 10 or 11 but now i think 13 or 14, i'm really not sure. I'm also confused about the romance part, does Cat like Syd, Frank or Pedro (or no one). Pleae, please, please can you tell me about book 5 - how does cat become a pirate. I love all the books in the cat royal series, i think thier absolutly amazing, i have also read ringmaster and i love that too!!!! I really want to be a writer when i grow up and ... wow I've wrote so much to you already, sorry. From Sophie
Hi Sophie In Diamond she starts off as 12 or 13. As for love life, in book one she has a crush on Johnny, in book two she's trying to avoid Billy, in three she has a holiday romance with JF, in four she has an encounter with Billy and senses Syd's deep feelings for her but she doesn't really reciprocate, much to her distress. I think she is not ready for a commitment (she's only young after all and has lots of plans other than marriage!). You'll have to wait and see about the pirate bit. Julia

Hi it's me again, Isabel. Just like to say again I love your books. I'd love it if you came to Nottingham and came to my school Trinity. Me and my best mate love yours books so much. I like role playing on sites. (I post what my character does) and so does my mate Meadhbh - I bet you can't pronounce that name!! I was wondering If I could make my own Rpg about the quartet series or something. I can't stop reading that series I've read each one of them books 2 times atleast.
Hi Isabel I do visit schools but on the invitation of a teacher or bookshop - see if you can get them interested! Julia

hi Julia ahhhhhh! I love Australia i mean i live here but i have to wait pretty much 2 years till the 5th cat royal book comes out. I bought some of the books you suggested and so far they are great! I was also wondering if you have read the chronicles of chrestomanci by Diana Wynne Jones? If so are they good? thanks Ellie
Hi Ellie I think I read one of them - the boy is called Cat or Kat isn't he? That's what attracted my attention. Julia

emily wrote on 13 October 2007:

Hi Emily There's nothing quite like Cat but you could try King of Shadows, Susan Cooper. Julia

Katie wrote on 12 October 2007:

Hi, I am the girl who wrote the story: Cat's Cradle. Do you think that you might use my bit of the story? That would be so cool if you did!!!!!!!! Bye
Hi Katie I'm pleased you are inspired to write Cat spin offs. I won't use your ideas though as Cat and I live in our own little world together and I have to be true to my own creative thoughts rather than borrow others. If you're a writer, I'm sure you'll understand this. Julia

I really like your books! I also know Katie(anoying questions) + Sophie (katie's twin). I thought that they were really interesting and original. This is the first time that I have been on this site. Trinidad is a really cool place. They drink Gin and Cocanut water. Maybe Cat should go there. Also Katie + Sophie's dad was born there. I also like Cuba! I did a project on it and it is really interesting. They have some cool instruments.
Hi Lucy She does get to go to Jamaica in the next book. Julia
