Dear Julia Golding. I am a 14 year old student in NZ and I just love your books. I love how Cat is so adventurous and rebellious in such a male dominated world. I am drawn into Cat's world and just can't wait to read Cat's Cradle. I don't really like the idea of a movie, because I think the feeling of the book could be portrayed differently by the actors. Thank you, for sharing you talentXXXXXX
Thanks Akanesi

Hi Julia I am new to the car royal books as i only got them a coulple of christmases back but they are really could I just started reding cat o nine tails which looks good. I alos think thatCat sounds amazing and wish she was real, she's kind funny, witty and (I don't fancy her)she sounds quite pretty. I like the original covers myself as i feel putting an image of cat on the front takes away the joy of imagining cat, buut there still cool. I do like the idea of a musical although (and please correct me if i'm wrong) I thought Cat said she couldn't sing. But any way the books are epic. PLEASE KEEP WRITING THE CAT BOOKS I LOVE THEM! From Giles :-) P.S looks like i may be the only boy to post a message on the board, please tell me the books are aimed at a universal auidiance.
Thanks Giles. As you may know covers are a publishers thing rather than the author. I preferred the original too - particularly the little hardbacks.

Hi, I was wondering do Syd and Bridgit O'Riley ever get together? As it would seem sad as he likes Cat? Thank You Rebbecca :)
Their future is not decided.

Hi, I am sure you have already been asked but is Cats Cradle available in the beautiful Hard Covers? I have been buying them for my sister as she has grown up and would love to able to get her it for her 18th. We are both big fans, never to old to for Cat Royal. Courtney 26 years old :)
Unfortunately not - they never made a hardback.

I was wondering if you were ever going to make a film of the Cat series? And are there any other books after Cat's Cradle?
See FAQs. Film - who knows? It wouldn't be me as I don't have the resources behind me but I'd love to see it happen.

Is the Cat Royal series going to be printed in the US again? I absolutely love it, but every time there's a new book out I need to wait for my friends to go visit their relatives in England and ask them to bring one back for me. If not, it's still okay because I always find a way to get them. Also, are you going to come out with a new book in the series anytime soon? I don't mean to rush you because they're amazing books and I know that they take time. With Love, Grace
I don't think the US publisher will do any more so the UK edition is the one to get.

Do you ever think Cat's story will really end or is she someone you could continue writing about? To me she is a character that could be set on course for a number of different opportunities!
In my imagination she lives on. What would she make of Napoleon? War with France? Abolition of the Slave Trade - all coming up in the next ten years or so.

Dear Ms. Golding, At first, I thought Frank and Cat would make a good couple. Then, after re-reading the whole series, I felt so sorry for Syd-whatever the outcome, I don not want to see Syd moving on. I don't know why, though. Maybe Cat can realise how lovely Syd is...but Frank would be nice, too. I understand, as the author, the anguish of choosing, but I'd really like to see more romance (not cartloads of the stuff) but it would be nice. I love your books, Larissa
Thanks Larissa - remember, everyone is very young in the books - even Syd! They have plenty of time for romance.

Hi! I absolutely love all your books, even though My English teacher (and all my friends) say I'm too old for them. But I absolutely love them! I just wanted to say please please please make Cat end up marrying someone nice, because I really want her to have a nice ending.
I think your English teacher is wrong - you are never too old for Cat as there are layers to the books and it is based on my doctorate so you can keep on finding things on other readings. Of course, I'd encourage everyone to read widely but not to turn their back on things they like through some spurious idea about age ranging. Thank you for being a fan. Julia

It is so hard to get your books in the US! usually i can only get them when i go to england or if my grandparents come here...is there any way you could get them published at the same time in both countries?
I try my best but it depends on the publishers not the author!

Hi Julia, i am absolutly in love with the Cat Royal adventures, they are so amazingly written. i have all of the books and have read them so many times and all of them are of the same cover design apart from cats cradle. I know there was a design in the same style for the last book but is it buyable? It would finish my set completly. Also are you going to write a next book and is Pedro going to come back? please do, Bea.
I'm afraid not - annoying isn't it!

I'm asking becuase im into drawing manga and am starting to get very good. Mabey il start drawing the first scene from the diamond of drurry lane then I could send it to u. Then you could tell me if they need improvement. It would be so cool!
Yes, do send it to me (via my publisher) and I'll put it up on the Cat Royalist page.

What kind of books do you or have you read that u found inspiring? Do you draw? Do you read graphic novels? Would you find it interesting if someone wrote a graphic novel of the cat royal books? That would be really cool and it could probably get my brothers into them since they love graphic novels.
All sorts. I read Maus - that's amazing. I wouldn't mind but I think in words rather than pictures.

Hi Julia! I read how you are having a hard time finding a publisher to finish off the cat royal series. So I thought of a suggestion to the dilemma! I was thinking you could publish the last cat books as ebooks(on iTunes, nook,ect.). They would not have to be free of course, but it would be a great way to finish the series for all of your cat fans and it would not cost as much as publishing paperbacks! I hope this idea helps you! Keep on writing!
Thanks. My problem is that I have plenty of books in the pipeline with publishers just not a Cat one in the queue at the moment.

Thnx for the advice. Just asking but do u play an instrument I play the flute and picilow? When u sit down to write where do u do it? Where do u do all of research for cat royal ? Is Mr Sheridan, the duke of Avon, theater royal all real people and places?
I'm not very musical (I wish I was!). I write at home or in a cafe. I did a doctorate in the period of Cat Royal so there are years of serious study behind the books (but that's not necessary as long as you read around a period you are interested in). Mr Sheridan and most of the places are real. Some of the theatre people are taken from the (real) payroll of the Drury Lane. Others are inventions - like the duke.

A musical? I can't exactly imagine a musical of the books! Sorry if I'm imagining wrong but massive numbers don't suit the books.
