I was captivated by this book...I couldn't put it down! Even though I wasn't able to read the first (my library doesn't have it) I fell in love with the characters. But I was dissapointed with the use of 'dirty' language. Did people of that day and age really speak that way? Otherwise, awsome book! (I must admit to being surprised that you are disappointed if you mean offended. My characters aren't Jane Austen polite and speak like that in my imagination. I use reference books like Grose's The Vulgar Tongue to enliven the dialogue and make it more gritty. Gadso is rather fun as it no longer has the power to offend us but can take that role in the book. I think it part of the attraction of a lively heroine - and it's not really that dirty if you think about it. Besides I leave out the really crude language! J)

I just finished the Diamond of Drury Lane and now I've just started Cat among the pigeons. I'm on act 2 so I haven't read much yet. I wonder if it is as good as the first book? - The Diamond Of Drury Lane was Fan-Dabby-Dosey!

Hi...I'm feeling down. Den of Thieves is out in the US...sadly, my library doesn't have it...I know! I'll tour Europe and drop by the UK to borrow the books from a library there! PLEASE KEEP WRITING...(envision the mantra...) (It's only just out in the States so perhaps they'll get it in future. j)

I realy enjoyed reading this book because, it was full of excitment. My favourite part was when Cat had to go to school dressed as a boy, and the bullies were very realistic. I can't wait to read it again. From Alistair.

Dear Julia, I love your books! This book is about Pedro, an African slave and how his master has come to try and claim him back! All the way through Cat seems to be getting herself into more of a muddle than before trying to save him. This is a brilliant book, it would be better if you read DIAMOND OF DRURY LANE before though as I did! Imogen

this book was amazing!!! I was almost in tears at points and I thing that the fact that it wasn't all about the rich (showing a different side to life) makes it all the more better!
