CAT'S Q&A
Do you have questions that you would love to ask Cat Royal? Allow Cat to put her 18th Century perspectives on your modern dilemmas.
My dear friends,
Good news - the Duchess of Avon has now answered your questions. Her replies are now posted.
Dr Golding has told me that some of my messages to her which she used to record my sea-going adventures are now available on something called Twitter. You have to look for Catherine Royal but then can follow my story there. It gives a behind-the-scenes look at what went on - not everything made it in to my memoirs.
I have also just received this shocking news from Mr Egmont, my bookseller:
Dear loyal readers,
We had hoped to publish Cat Royal’s latest adventure in
August of this year, but instead we have had to delay publication after a
terrible occurrence.
The precious manuscript was snatched from our
offices late one evening, possibly by that unscrupulous publisher, Mr Tweadle, or one of Billy
Shepherd’s henchmen, we do not know. Happily one of our editors was working late
and spotted the thief .... Pursuing the villain, he saw him cast the script into
the Thames, and with the help of a local fisherman was able to rescue it in
time to save it ....
But sadly for all Cat’s readers, much of her tale had
to be retyped through water damage and we will not be able to have it ready for
publication for this August. We hope to have it ready for the press ten months later than expected.
Yours regretfully, Mr Egmont
I am very frustrated by the delay,
which once again is out of my hands. I have decided instead to release
on these pages a small adventure - a novella in fact - for my faithful
readers to read for free. I will start the installments in August to
reward you for your patience. It will start at the point I left you in
the Caribbean.
Meanwhile, please do carry on asking for my advice.
Cat Royal

Dear Hannah, I'm not sure - Dr Golding is talking about 9 parts but we will see where my adventures take me. I was around 12 or 13 during the events of Diamond. CatGabrielle wrote on 01 March 2008:

Dear Milli Leap year - I can enlighten you. The Earth takes 365 days and a quarter to go round the sun so every four years they catch up on one day by having an extra one. Mr Tweadle - last seen in rags after his bookshop mysteriously burnt down... CatEmilie wrote on 28 February 2008:
Chere Emilie, I think that the most amazing thing I saw was the invasion of the Tuilleries Palace by us commoners (though I was less keen on what happened next). My first voyage to France was a horrid experience - the Channel is foul for poor sailors. How to keep out of trouble - don't be called Cat Royal. Cat P.S. I send my commiserations for the sewing test.Emilie wrote on 28 February 2008:

My dear Anna I think it was my friend, Julia, who was at your school and she says she was sorry to miss you. I think we would get on like a house on fire if we met. CatKatie wrote on 27 February 2008:
Dear Katie It is very exciting and I certainly miss it. Somewhere else? Possibly a small house with a bit of garden, filled with books. CatIsabel wrote on 27 February 2008:
Dear Isabel I always rather fancied writing a gothic horror story. Do you think I'd be any good at it? CatKatie wrote on 27 February 2008:

Dear Milli Fancy a round of fisticuffs sometime? You sound like a most amusing opponent. Or perhaps we could challenge your English teacher to take on the Crusher... How do you say it in your cant - Go girl! CatIsabel wrote on 26 February 2008:
Dear Isabel These are the only products of my pen to date. I liked Latin the most too. I wish I'd had more time to make a start on Greek. CatLizzie wrote on 25 February 2008:

Dear Isabel I always think that a healthy dose of fact helps make a better story - after all I base all my own tales on the truth. Your story about the maid sounds wonderful - many of my friends who are in service have horrid charges to look after. The horrid little tykes put toads in their beds and spiders in their tea cups - quite, quite foul. if I was a nursery maid I'd do the same back - with knobs on. Yours sincerely Cat P.S. I can't imagine me living a quiet life, can you?Milli wrote on 24 February 2008:
Oh drat, I was looking forward to a good argument - the chance to fling a couple of choice insults! But I suppose that wouldn't fit with my agony aunt role, would it? Catharshana wrote on 24 February 2008:
Dear Harshana I did not enjoy life on board the Courageous very much - I do not advise seafaring as a career choice for any of my young readers (they'll take you when you're about 12 if you are a boy). Mrs Peabody was tough but I admired her pluck. I definitely enjoyed acting as long as I was not the target of rotten eggs - then it lost its appeal. And yes, it was very sad to leave Pedro, but who is to say I will not see him again? CatMilli wrote on 24 February 2008:

Dear Lizzie Yes, I wrote about it - it is called Prep. I enjoyed it because I don't get much chance to study. CatAdd your message
