CAT'S Q&A
Do you have questions that you would love to ask Cat Royal? Allow Cat to put her 18th Century perspectives on your modern dilemmas.
My dear friends,
Good news - the Duchess of Avon has now answered your questions. Her replies are now posted.
Dr Golding has told me that some of my messages to her which she used to record my sea-going adventures are now available on something called Twitter. You have to look for Catherine Royal but then can follow my story there. It gives a behind-the-scenes look at what went on - not everything made it in to my memoirs.
I have also just received this shocking news from Mr Egmont, my bookseller:
Dear loyal readers,
We had hoped to publish Cat Royal’s latest adventure in
August of this year, but instead we have had to delay publication after a
terrible occurrence.
The precious manuscript was snatched from our
offices late one evening, possibly by that unscrupulous publisher, Mr Tweadle, or one of Billy
Shepherd’s henchmen, we do not know. Happily one of our editors was working late
and spotted the thief .... Pursuing the villain, he saw him cast the script into
the Thames, and with the help of a local fisherman was able to rescue it in
time to save it ....
But sadly for all Cat’s readers, much of her tale had
to be retyped through water damage and we will not be able to have it ready for
publication for this August. We hope to have it ready for the press ten months later than expected.
Yours regretfully, Mr Egmont
I am very frustrated by the delay,
which once again is out of my hands. I have decided instead to release
on these pages a small adventure - a novella in fact - for my faithful
readers to read for free. I will start the installments in August to
reward you for your patience. It will start at the point I left you in
the Caribbean.
Meanwhile, please do carry on asking for my advice.
Cat Royal

Dear Sarah, They don't dare tease me - because I tease right back with knobs on. Catherine? I'm waiting to hear from Lizzie and Johnny but letters take months. CatMilli wrote on 09 June 2008:
Dear Milli Sometimes I don't understand you... CatMaariyah wrote on 09 June 2008:
Dear Maariyah, I have been away from London for so long that fortunately I have not seen them. I imagine they are still with Billy's gang as they would not have the imagination to strike out on their own. Catcatrina wrote on 08 June 2008:
Dear Catrina In Black Heart I meet pirates and old enemies, new friends and a rotten egg... CatMilli wrote on 08 June 2008:
Dear Milli I think you mean abolition... CatMaariyah wrote on 07 June 2008:
Dear Maariyah, I can't help taking risks: if I see something that needs doing, I just jump straight in. You could call me reckless - I definitely have a temper. And yes, I did have a suntan, I'm afraid to admit. Not very fashionable when ladies are supposed to be as white as milk... CatEl wrote on 07 June 2008:
My dear El, You can love more than one person. To my knowledge I am not romantically involved with any of those you mention but I can still love them as friends. CatNatasha and Grace wrote on 07 June 2008:
I do love Syd of course - he's my oldest friend. CatCatrina wrote on 05 June 2008:
Dear Catrina I think I must be a magnet for trouble - that can be the only explanation. CatSophie wrote on 05 June 2008:
Dear Sophie, I'm afraid I've not heard from Pedro but I'm pleased he's with a friend even if they don't fall for each other in that way. Catlola wrote on 02 June 2008:

Need you ask? Who wouldn't want to be a rich lord's offspring? CatDanielle wrote on 02 June 2008:
Dear Danielle, I think most of the answers to your questions are found in my books but I can answer one: what am I afraid of? Losing all my friends. Oh and sewing. CatLola wrote on 01 June 2008:
Dear Lola, You can only judge people on what you know about them as a fact - not a rumour. In your shoes, I would stand firm and explain to your acquaintance, if she raises it with you, that the new friend has always been pleasant to you and you wish to give your friendship a chance. Thank her for worrying about your welfare, but suggest that you have to make your own judgments about people. CatEllie wrote on 01 June 2008:
Dear Elle, Um, I'm ashamed to admit it but I do argue rather a lot with people. Pedro knows how to avoid my temper but you should see Syd and I sometimes! I have become very familiar with the word 'sorry'. CatEllie wrote on 01 June 2008:
Dear Ellie You sound like a girl after my own heart! I had lots of stories I had scribbled in secret before Dr Golding took me under her wing. Practice is the secret of being a good writer so keep on with them! CatAmy wrote on 31 May 2008:
Dear Amy I am sorry to hear that you are having a difficult time. I think what keeps me going are my friends, though I admit that they can also be the source of the worry too. It is important to remember to value yourself - in a good way, I mean: none of us like a conceited oaf or a popinjay. And if you have someone to hug - a mum or dad or a friend - that's a good way of reminding yourself that it's not all bad even when things seem really bleak. CatHarmony wrote on 31 May 2008:
Do you know who you are going to marry? Thought not. Same here. Favourite adventure? Perhaps dancing at the Paris opera... CatHarmony wrote on 31 May 2008:
Dear Harmony What a lovely name but I would feel most discordant if I answered you! CatCaty wrote on 31 May 2008:
Dear Caty, I suggest you don't make too much of this - have some dignity. If you apologize that should be it - end of story. Your friend (if she is a true friend) will get past it. Yes, I really have a tattoo. CatAdd your message
