Dear Julia, My daughter, Babette (11) and I are enjoying Ringmaster very much. We have lived outside Europe for many years including four in Zambia. Babette is an international school kid and we recognise so much in your description of Kenya. We are looking forward to Empty Quarter, especially because we now live in Egypt. I am not a spy. The comments below from Rebecca and Becci give too much away if you haven't finished the book yet. Steve

Hi, Julia! Ringmaster is FANTASTIC and is officially my favourite book of all time. I think it was a cliff-hanger because Darcie has to leave behind her life in Nairobi, and Kassim(!!!!!!!!!! I was at the book festival in Edinburgh and queued to get the last two books of the Companions Quartet signed by you. Your talk was very interesting! Can't wait till Spring to hear more from Darcie! In the meantime I'll dream up more exciting plots about her!

Hi Julia, I love your books so much! My parents get annoyed with me for reading too much but your books are addictive! You pick it up and can't put it down! I once read two of your books in a day. Question: Where do you get your inspiration?? (Hi Annabelle, the idea for Ringmaster came from my experience as a diplomat - some of the little details of Embassy life are taken from real things that happened to me. Julia)

Hello! I wrote to you about Ship Between the Worlds in May and you told me about it. I bought it when I saw it recently in a bookshop and got completely stuck in. I absolutely loved it and don't know why I didn't buy it quicker. I really can't wait for the sequel and hope you make a series of the book. Please let me know of any new books you are writing because I would love to read them when they are published. You are a great writer and I think your books are amazing.

Coco wrote on 07 August 2007:
