i LOVE the cat royal books ive never read anything like them. I am completely obessed by them and i can't stop reading them until i finish, i've spent so many nights staying up til the early hours. But i don't think they should be made into movies because that would just spoil the images that i have in my head and you wouldn't be able to put across all of cat's thoughts.

hiya julia i have just noticed that the last 4 books have always started with a C or a D is it a coincidence or not? (Hi Abz - that's not quite right as I've done Ringmaster and The Ship between the Worlds too among the last four. If you're talking just about Cat, it's to do with her name in two of them - the rest is just coincidence. Julia)

Is Pedro going to be back and is Cat going back to london and will she see Billy again, I think he secretly loves her! Please reply!!!!!!! Sara! (Hi Sarah, it's Julia. Or have you read the new one by Malorie Blackman called 'The Stuff Of Nightmares' i've just started it, it's really gd! Sophie. (No, I haven't read that. Julia)

Hi- only one question- (for once)- how old will Cat be in Black Heart? I know we don't know her age exactly but round about? Is she still 14ish or has she moved on to the 15is category? (You have to add from 1790 when she is 12/13. Not sure when I'll end at the moment but she'll still be a teenager. Julia)

What i first want to say is that the AS course i'm doing i chose because of your description of the late 1700's- early 1800!! I wanted to find out more of what it was really like and i'm now really interested in it!! The back ground that your books give to things like, the political stiuation and the issue of slavery is just amazing i'd never really thought about how the plantation owners would have felt about the abolition campaign but they must have been against it, wouldn't they? (i think sometimes the whole 'who will she marry?' thing gets in the way of some of the really brilliant plots, not that i mind!! I don't think she'll chose Syd no-offence but she can do so much better!! He is sweet but come on!!) I just want to thank you for a brilliant series of books and i will owe my ALevel result in history to you and the enthusiasm you've given me!! I'm glad this one will be more Cat and Pedro as they seem to have drifted apart (OMG i've had a thought does Pedro find some of his family? That would be sooo brill!!) I'm sorry this is so long but just another thought my favorite scene is at the end of Den of Theives where Cat tells Billy he has no more power over her, it's a bit like what the French people said to Louis!! I've just looked back and i'm really sorry how long this is!! C.16

emily wrote on 12 October 2007:

hi! i hear people saying they have read Black heart of Jamaica, is that true if it comes out nexet year? oh, and think Cat a Syd make a good couple. How old is Cat in book nine?(an estimate) Emily (age 11) (Hi Emily no Black Heart yet -not till early next year. I don't know about book nine yet! Julia)

Lottie wrote on 11 October 2007:

Hiya, when is this book coming out and is the sixth book going to be back in England (I prefered the ones at Dury Lane but I still loved den of thieves and Cat O' nine tails) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let Cat and Frank get together (I think Frank secretly is in love with cat, what do you think? and it would be so great if Cat could become a "proper" lady like the Duchess)Give one hint please!!!Just one!!!!!! Good luck on your books, especially the cat ones!!! WB PLZ LOTTIE (Hi Lottie - yes there will be a return to London at some point - though don't expect her to stay in London! Can't tell you about Frank - you'll just have to wait and see... Julia)
