Mines of the Minotaur
Mines of the Minotaur
‘Something’s wrong,’ Col said urgently. The wind was buffeting him back, trying to prevent him reaching his friend. ‘Connie!’ he yelled. ‘Connie! Stop it!’ She was standing very close to the cliff edge, her toes curled over the crumbling lip...
Connie is a Universal – she can talk to animals and mythical creatures. But something dark is calling to her, giving her dangerous power, and her best friend Col doesn’t know what to do.
When her strange behaviour means Connie is rejected by the Society for the Protection of Mythical Creatures - the very group of people who are supposed to protect her - she hides in an abandoned tin mine. There she is befriended by a blinded Minotaur, and feels safe amongst the other wounded creatures the Society and the world have forgotten.
But even deep underground she can’t block out the dark voice in her head. Who is it, and where does it come from? And why does Connie feel so terrified by the power it gives her?

Oh wow, I just finished reading "The Gorgons Gaze" once again, and my imagionation is still running wild, I enjoy all your books. You must be my fav. Author, after all, I tend to read them all. Just to let you know, I so can't wait to get my paws on "Mines of the Minotaur." Thankyou for producing such exellent stories, ^^" I hope you don't mind me asking, but:- - Who is your favourite Character? I love Colin, he really reminds me of a long gone friend! ^^" - What mythical creature would you want as a companion? (I like Rat I think - and Col and Connie of course. I'd be a companion to a water sprite. J)

I recently finished The Mines of the Minotaur, but will have to wait until November to get my hands on the final installment. I had a few quick questions for which I was hoping you might be able to provide some answers. 1. How do you pronounce Col's name: Cole or Call? 2. Is the ending of the Chimera's Curse....solid? Conclusive? Or does it tend to leave the characters adrift? Anyway, overall, I have enjoyed the first three books and look forward to finishing the quartet soon! Best wishes! (Col is short for Colin - so has the same first syllable sound. And I can't possibly give away the end! J)

I made a Wikipedia article for Mines of the Minotaur! It wasn't there at first, but The Gorgon's Gaze and Secret of the Sirens was, which didn't make much sense to me. I also made The Chimera's Curse, but that one isn't that good. Here ya go. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mines_of_the_minotaur (Thanks for taking the time. J)

I've been looking for this one because they have numbers one and two in the library but not three and four. Do you know if there's a way to contact the Chicago's Public Library (ya know Chicago, Illinois, USA). The first two books have been great and I wanna know what happens with Kullervo. Great author you are!!! I wish I could be a companion to water giants if anything then because I want there to be nice ones!!! LOL. (Hi, MoM is out in US but only fairly recently so it may be that the library is still processing it. Why not put in a book request? J)

What can i say...... I love these books and i am now reading Mines of the Minotaur. I had never read a book before in my life before you came to my school and read us a chapter...chich i still remember was the chapter when col meets the gorgon, it took me a while to remember which books they were , but after seing Secret of the Sirens at the school libury a few years after...i just had to buy all 4 as i kept getting told off for having the book too long. I love these books so much that i cant put them down...and find myself being told off at school for reading them in lessons. I really dont want to finish them because there so good and i want them to go on forever! After i read the last 2 I think i might just have to read them again! I cant describe how i feel when i read your books....its like watching a film, I can picture it all and i oftern find sanctuary in your books. Thankyou Julia for Giving me an emagination.
