Mines of the Minotaur

Mines of the Minotaur

‘Something’s wrong,’ Col said urgently. The wind was buffeting him back, trying to prevent him reaching his friend. ‘Connie!’ he yelled. ‘Connie! Stop it!’ She was standing very close to the cliff edge, her toes curled over the crumbling lip...Mines of the minotaur book cover

Connie is a Universal – she can talk to animals and mythical creatures. But something dark is calling to her, giving her dangerous power, and her best friend Col doesn’t know what to do.

When her strange behaviour means Connie is rejected by the Society for the Protection of Mythical Creatures - the very group of people who are supposed to protect her - she hides in an abandoned tin mine. There she is befriended by a blinded Minotaur, and feels safe amongst the other wounded creatures the Society and the world have forgotten.

But even deep underground she can’t block out the dark voice in her head. Who is it, and where does it come from? And why does Connie feel so terrified by the power it gives her?

Hello, I've just started this book. I ordered it to come for the day you came into my school (CCHS) but it didn't. I was absolutely gutted, but now I'm entering a competition to win some of your books, signed. I have my fingers crossed.

You could always send me bookplates to sign. J

Julia, I must say I enjoy your work so much. Kinds of novels which mix fantasy in a world of reality are so hard to master and one of my favorites. Oh, and as for Col and Connie...I wouldn't want them to start dating, but rather having moments here and there...

Are the 3rd and the 4th books getting translated to spanish? I'm from México and I really love your books so I just wanted to know if they're translating it to spanish thanks :) (I was told they were still negotiating for the next books Minotaur and Chimera. Might be worth tell the publisher you want to see how the story ends to nudge them in the right direction! Julia)

Dear Julia, I really love the Companions Quartet. i have only read the first book but i fell inlove with the series. it is the best book I have ever read. Is there any way we can read the whole book online? I don't go to the library often and I read my books fast. I finished Secret of the Sirens in three hours. (Sorry no. i don't think there's an e-book out there. Worth another trip to the library I hope! Julia)

Hi Julia, I love your books!! Actually, I've only read the first two, but I love them already!! I read the second, The Gorgon's Gaze, two & a half times in one day ( we had to pick up my aunt & uncle from the Philedelphia airport after them flying over from the U.K., then help them set up their new apartment actually.) I really want to read the rest of The Companions Quartet, but I can't find the third or fourth (in the U.S.), and I'm really annoyed!! My brother, Ben, likes your books too - he was complaining the whole way to Philedelphia b/c I wanted to read them. Sincerely, Erin B. (Hi Erin, They are published in the States in hardback so you should be able to get hold of them. Have you checked online booksellers? Julia)
