Mines of the Minotaur
Mines of the Minotaur
‘Something’s wrong,’ Col said urgently. The wind was buffeting him back, trying to prevent him reaching his friend. ‘Connie!’ he yelled. ‘Connie! Stop it!’ She was standing very close to the cliff edge, her toes curled over the crumbling lip...
Connie is a Universal – she can talk to animals and mythical creatures. But something dark is calling to her, giving her dangerous power, and her best friend Col doesn’t know what to do.
When her strange behaviour means Connie is rejected by the Society for the Protection of Mythical Creatures - the very group of people who are supposed to protect her - she hides in an abandoned tin mine. There she is befriended by a blinded Minotaur, and feels safe amongst the other wounded creatures the Society and the world have forgotten.
But even deep underground she can’t block out the dark voice in her head. Who is it, and where does it come from? And why does Connie feel so terrified by the power it gives her?

HI You can buy them through the shop on my site or try the Book Depository (http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/) as they don't charge for overseas shipping (at least they used not to).

Hi Julia Golding I just wanted to say I'm a huge fan of urs and that I love love love ur companions quartet books. And since I love them so much I wondered if ur able to make more books about it. I first started reading them and I just couldn't put the books down. I couldn't pay attention to my mom but that's alright. I only read the first two and will have to get the other two at my school Jorge mas canosa or jmc. I'm a sixth grader. I also think that mythical creatures exist or know as I should say. I also have a friend or dog named Lola and we r best friends. So,anyways,I hope to hear from u again
Hi Alexa. Have you looked at the page for Water Thief?

Yo, Ms. Golding, I am most likely one of your biggest fans. My friend lent me the Secret of The Sirens and The Gorgon's Gaze so far, but she's looking for The Mines of the Minotuar. :( I just started the series three days ago, and I'm in love. I thought nothing would top Harry Potter, but Percy Jackson did. Then I thought nothing could top Percy Jackson, but the Warrior Cats series did. THEN I thought nothing could top that, but The Companions' Quartet did. And know I am positive that nothing can top it and all my other favorite books are happily reading about Connie and Col right along side me. (sorry, that was weird.) Anyway, Julia Golding, you are offically my hero. Your series will top Harry Potter like nothing. And here's my message to all you haters (if any): Be open minded! Give Connie a chance!!
Thanks very much, Elisa!

Wow, it feels weird to be able to just chat with a famous author. I think it's safe to say I'm obsessed with the series; I actually fell into the habit of greeting my cat as "Companion." Then my cat (and my friend) lookked at me like I was nuts so... I'm rambling. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the books are amazing and I've been trying to get my hands on the third one for a while now. (Sold out at bookstore, not at library, unavailable for NookColor eBook...) Crap, I'm doing it again. Huge fan and wish I could write like you. -Sierra (Not that that's even my name but I wish it was and as a safety precaution I try never to use my real- AGH I NEED TO STOP DOING THIS! That's what you get for making me excited. :D)
Good idea to keep your real name to yourself. I'd strongly encourage all my readers to keep data private. Sorry you are having problems getting Minotaur. It is in stock on Amazon UK and US if you do online shopping. Say 'hi' to your cat for me!

for some reason this reminds me of twilight i have only read sirens secret but i was reading the blurbs and reviews and stuff and when connie gets banished or whatever it reminds me of when edward leaves bella (idk why :/)
Not thought of that - I'd not read it at the time so there was no cross-fertilization so to speak.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this seris!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just wish there was more than 4 books. :( The first book made me cry when Scark died! The second book made me so excited every time I had to stop reading. This book made me so angry when they kicked Connie out of the Society, accepted Mr. Coddrington into the Trustees, and when Col told Dr. Brock about Connie raising storms when she told him not to. YOUR THE BEST!!!!! :):):):):):):):)
Have you tried Water Thief?

There isn't a Spanish version I'm afraid.

Your books are in my top five favorite series I only hate that there are only 4 books in the series do you know of any other books that contain stuff about mythical creatures
Percy Jackson springs to mind. I've a fifth book out as an ebook (Water Thief) before Christmas that you might like and a new series next year (this will also be a paperback as well as ebook) called Dark Spies. Julia

Hi Julia. I'm Spanish. And I think you'll be happy when you know that your book has come here too. I read The secret of sirens and The gorgon's gaze. I can't wait to read the other two books and I hope your other books will fall on my hands too. You are great. Come on, you can do it!!!
Thanks, Mickey. I don't think the last two of the quartet are in Spanish unfortunately! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I have a couple of books in Catalan if you are from that part of Spain. Julia

Hi Julia!!! I am currently waiting for the bookstore to receive the third book for me. Do you know how hard it is to find this series where I live? I wish more people would read your books, because in my opinion they could rival the Harry Potter craze :) Please keep writing amazing books!
Hi yes, I've not made it into the ubiquitous category yet - but maybe I will one day. Julia

Not sure. I tend to have favourite episodes rather than books, some in each. What's yours? Julia
