The Ship Between the Worlds

The Ship Between the Worlds

When David Jones finds himself aboard a pirate ship, he knows it must be a dream. Except that he’s awake. And the ‘dream’ is more like a nightmare.

The ship between the worlds book cover

Before he can take it all in, David is swept up in the adventure of a lifetime: volunteered to act as a spy on an enemy ship, marooned, and picked up by the most fearsome band of buccaneers ever known.

Can he escape? The answer lies in the golden thread glistening under the sea – and everybody is desperate to have it. Could it lead David home, or to his missing father – or both?

Review: 'This is high octane, high drama on the high seas. It’s got all the fun of Pirates of the Caribbean, the action of Master and Commander and brilliant characterization that reminds me of the masterful Treasure Island.' LoveReading4Kids

I really really loved this book. I really liked the idea of threads holding the worlds together.

Hello Julia! You came to the Edinurgh Book Festival, remember? You spoke to our class about you're books and you. Well, everyone in our class LOVED you're book talk about you and loads of your books. Nearly everyone has raided book shops to try to find you're books. Everyone has got at least one or more of your books. I am reading 'The Diamond of Drury Lane' and it is so far really, really good! I am loving it! My teacher even bought the book 'Ringmaster' to read to the class. She also bought some books for herself. I just wanted to say that you made our day. Our whole class agreed that in all the years that our class has been to book talks there .. that yours was the best so far! Thank you! You are a really good writer because you have writen soo many books (which are all very good btw!) and you have made them all so different. Its amazing how you can do that. I find it really hard to put you're books down! They are great!!! Good-bye. Please reply :) (Hi Rosie - it was great fun meeting you and your classmates at the festival. I'm glad you are enjoying the books. I love doing the events - particularly getting people dressed up in Cat wigs and hats. Best wishes Julia)

I love all of your books - it is amazing how you can write so many books over such a short space of time and yet keep each series and set of characters so different from each other. There is never a possibility of confusing a character from one book with one from another book. Excellent!

Hello, I am a Year 7 student at Hayesfield School. I thoroughly enjoyed your visit and purchased 'The Ship Between the Worlds'. It is my first of your books. I read it within a day and a half because I just couldn't put it down! I found it very exciting and I loved the idea of a ship sewing the worlds together. I felt for David because he was so brave and got treated so badly. My favourite part of your book was when David stood up for himself in front of Captain Stella Tor - the speech was magnificent. I would love it if you were to write a sequel for it. I thought 'The Ship Between the Worlds' was written very well, it had so many twists to the storyline. I was inspired by your book and now wish to read the book you were telling us about on your visit when you finish it (the girl's thriller). ((Hi Katriona, The book you mention is called Ringmaster. Let me know what you think when you have a chance to read it. Julia))

The ship beetween worlds book is very good. I like that you have included different worlds and a golden thread sewing them together and the way, you have used the name david jones as in Davy Jones locker.I also spotted your book because it was about pirates and I love pirates and sword fights and that sort of thing. Please could you write some more pirate books

Hello Julia this is Hafsa's mum. As you are now well aware of I read Hafsa's books before her. I've just read Ship between the worlds. I had to tell you what I thought. The storyline wasn't anything like I expected. I still enjoyed it like the other books (truthfully maybe not as much as the Cat or Companions books) and couldn't wait to get to the ending to find out what happens. This book was really different in the sense that although you had the adventurous storyline it was really sad in places. I think this story brings to light more of what is going on around us....The world's existance.....A father disappearing from his familys life.....heartfelt sacrifices. The sadness and sympathy I felt while reading 'Ship' wasn't experienced reading the other books. Although Cat is an orphan I didn't really feel sympathetic towards her character. I think 'ship' has been very well written (will this be the start of a series too?). I don't know what Hafsa will think. No doubt she'll let you know. Thanks again Julia Farida
