Secret of the Sirens
Secret of the Sirens
Col felt a stab of fear in his stomach. The Sirens were now close enough for him to see their crimson mouths open in a scream, pale faces blazing with white-hot anger, their bird-claws tearing at the air..
.

When Connie is sent to live with her aunt by the sea, she’s not expecting anything much – not to make friends with Col, the coolest boy in town, and certainly not to discover that mythical creatures still exist, that an ancient society has protected them for centuries and that a dark and powerful force is now trying to destroy it. Above all, she doesn’t expect to discover that she has a special talent – greater even than her secret ability to talk to animals – which, with Col’s help, could give her unimaginable power...

LOL, yeah, you should! I'm reading the Maximum Ride series, and it is really exciting! I hope you get a chance to read it!

Okay, thanks. Do you read James Patterson books?
No, I don't - or should I say 'not yet'.

LOL!! I hope you recover from your surgery. I like nature too, so maybe I'll try that book! I'm reading bestseller books currently - well, I'm re reading Harry Potter (who doesn't love Harry Potter!), I'm also reading books by Rick Riordan, and Erin Hunter. I love books in general and am always keeping an eye out for good books!
Hi The book I was reading is quite a grown up one and I'm not sure of your age so if you are younger try 'My family and other animals' by Gerard Durrell.

Yeah, well, we have to read it in school. Everybody hates it (probably because it's complicated) but I think it's okay. I love how the author uses symbolism in the book. Oh yeah- Do you have any time to read books or are you constantly writing?
I read a lot. I'm currently recovering from an operation so doing more reading than writing. I've just read Sightlines by Kathleen James - collection of essays about nature. Good way to escape hospital.

Oh yeah, thanks...Julia, did you ever read The Pearl by John Steinbeck??
I don't think I have - it is a while since I read any Steinbeck.

Dear Julia, You know what your books remind me of? It reminds me a little of Erin Hunter's books because you both create different worlds for the readers to emerse themselves in (even though Erin Hunters writes about animal worlds!). I also have another question for you (yes, this might become daily!). Where do you get the ideas for your books? Does your family help you come up with the ideas?
HI I've written a little about inspirations on the FAQs - take a look. Julia

But do you know what inspires me to read your books? Just the fact that you wrote them!! And the amazing plots that you come up with!
Sophia wrote on 13 April 2012:
Hi Julia! I just wanted to ask you one question: What inspires you to write your books?
Creating my own worlds to enter into.

Hi Julia, I just wanted to say that all 4 books that I read are amazing and I love them so much, they are like my most favorite books and I would love love love to read more.I have never put the books down. Have you ever thought about making more books about it? Cause I would love to read a lot more about Connie and Col. and see what happened and if there were ever more threats. Did you also think about turning the books into movies? Hopefully you can. I dont know if your able too though. And I also read the chapter of the new book. The Water Thief. And I just cant wait to read more. Hope to hear from you soon.
Hi Alexa I'm writing a new fantasy series which is not in the same world as the Companions but hopefully has the same pleasures for readers. Out next year.

I HAVEN'T STARTED THE SERIES YET BUT FROM READING THE SUMMARY, IT SOUNDS VERY INTERESTING! I HAVE A QUESTION, WHO WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT FOR? I PERSONALLY LOVE READING ANYTHING ADVENTUROUS. I'LL GET BACK TO YOU ON THAT AS SOON AS I GET HOLD OF THE FIRST BOOK!
Recommended for you of course! ;)

Hello, I'm Bella! :) I am 14 years old. I want to be a writer someday, like you and all my other favorite authors. If you have any writing tips, I would be grateful if you shared them.I have only read the first Companion book, but I have the second on hold at my local library. All it took was one chapter and I was hooked! I hope the rest of the series is just as good!
HI Have you looked at the Tips for writers in the Ask Section?

Haha, I wish I was able to write a theme like that! Unforch, I'm not musical at all though, other than listening to it... I can't play anything, and my voice... well, let's just say it's not anything like a siren's! Do you know if there's any way of contacting the composer other than through YouTube, since my parent's won't allow me an account until I'm sixteen?
I don't know the person I'm afraid.

Hi Julia, I am reading the Secret Of The Sirens. I havn't read any of your books yet, but I love your book the Secret Of The Sirens. I really like your idea of how Connie can "speak" to animals. I would love to be her. Oh, one question, what color hair is Connies? I was trying to make a picture but i didn't know what color, to color her hair. But anyway, I would love if you could write me back. Thanks so much for reading this (if you do) because you are probably really busy. so bye!
Hi Jordan Her hair is very dark brown almost black.

Hi, Julia, me again! Really? I thought that you were responsible for putting it up! It's a video called 'Connie's Theme' and it has a picture of the companion's shield on it- it's a really pretty piano song. Will there be songs for any of the other characters, do you know? Because it's quite an old video, but I'd love, love, love to hear a theme for Col!
Nothing to do with me but sounds nice. Why don't you choose a theme for Col and let me know?
Sophie wrote on 08 February 2012:
Hi Julia, I was wondering, are there going to be any more theme tunes for the characters in the Companions Quartet? I listened to the Connie's one on Youtube, and it was really good, but I would love to hear Col's theme, or Rat's theme, or even George's theme. Will they be appearing any time soon?
Hi I don't know about this - can you tell me more?
