Secret of the Sirens
Secret of the Sirens
Col felt a stab of fear in his stomach. The Sirens were now close enough for him to see their crimson mouths open in a scream, pale faces blazing with white-hot anger, their bird-claws tearing at the air..
.

When Connie is sent to live with her aunt by the sea, she’s not expecting anything much – not to make friends with Col, the coolest boy in town, and certainly not to discover that mythical creatures still exist, that an ancient society has protected them for centuries and that a dark and powerful force is now trying to destroy it. Above all, she doesn’t expect to discover that she has a special talent – greater even than her secret ability to talk to animals – which, with Col’s help, could give her unimaginable power...

Hi.... Your books are some of the best books I have ever read, and they really are very hard to put down. I have an exam coming up very shortly , and I'am doing higher level english, any tips on how I can write a good story in a short amount of time ?. Thanks. Any news on the books getting made into a movie ? love becca xx (Hi Becca, I'd plan it out quickly in rough - if it's a timed exam. I'd bear in mind that the examiner will be impressed by an impressive start and end - when deciding a mark people often re read beginning and end to make up their minds. And think about making description reveal character ie what they pick on to describe and how they see it reveals their mind set. Julia)

I just love the companions! You really need a website with games for the companions. Like flying a dragon or a Pegasus. And a Society! THey are so good! And I just loved the end. It was great!

I love your books! I am seriously hooked on them at the moment. I first read your companion quartet when I was about 11. Me and my friend fought over who could have the book first- when it came into the school library. Eventually, we flipped a coin. I later read Dragonfly and Ringmaster. I've just finished the diamond of drury lane and am now reading Empty Quarter. Thank you for many great reads. Danni.

Hi! I just finished the first book and I was so glad that I started. I am also a writer, and I was amazed at the way you gracefully wove your concern for the environment into your fantasy. I love the earth, but sometimes people take it too far, but your book was refreshingly not-pushy. I can't wait to dig into number two! What creature do you think you would be a companion to? I have always been drawn to pheonixes, but definitly something that flys! (Not sure but my husband reminds me of a selkie so that would make an appropriate companion creature for me! Julia)

If they ever, ever make a movie out of any of your books, would you have the characters be English? I mean, for Cat Royal, obviously yes, but any others? (No, if someone can act they can probably do the accent. J)

Hey! My names Maea and I'm wondering what kinda authors you like Julia? Like it's funny to think what the people that write your fav. books like. So it would be awesome if you could reply! (I like lots of books. For fantasy I like Garth Nix (Sabriel etc) and Tamora Pierce. I enjoyed the Percy Jackson series and Artemis Fowl. And of course Cressida Cowell's viking series. Julia)
