Empty Quarter

Empty Quarter

Nominated for the Carnegie Award 2009

Darcie's stuck aboard a cruise ship for problem rich kids. It sounds exotic but it’s more like boot camp. Things are about to get interesting though... Darcie becomes embroiled in a kidnapping plot that will take her from Naples, via Cyprus, to Egypt and on a terrifying journey through the desert empty quarter.

An adventure-thriller starring Darcie Lock.

Do you have any vague ideas on when a fourth Darcie might come out? Thanks!

Not for a while because I am writing others things at the moment and see no prospect of a gap.

I really love your Darcie Lock books and was wondering if Darcie and Stingo are secretly in Love with each other? Thanks but they are great books! Xxxx Sandy

No, it is more an older brother, younger sister relationship - teasing and affectionate but not romantic.

I've brought the paperback version of both Ringmaster and Empty Quarter. But I cannot find the free ebook copy of Ringmaster on your website anymore!

There is no free version. If you ever find a link it is either pirated (and that is just another word for stolen) or it might be by someone who creates false links to catch the unwary - a form of phishing. An author friend was telling me he'd found his books supposedly free and found they then planted information hacking programme if you tried to download. If it looks too good to be true then it probably is! I know we would love everything to be free but I have to charge for what I write or else I couldn't afford to be a writer. Same goes in the music industry for your favourite bands etc. Think hard before you go the pirate route. The only free book I've done is a short story about Cat which you can find on Kindle or iBooks. Please enjoy that at absolutely no charge!

Hi. I really enjoyed reading the Darcie Lock Series as well as Dragonfly and The Glass Swallow. I couldn't stop reading once i'd started and they are the only books that i have ever read more than once! I hope that you get enough readers for a fourth Darcie Lock book because i'd love another one to read!

Thank you, Mary.

Thanks for replying to my question Julia, I looked at the ask and found some cool tips. Are you going to see anything in the olympics? Racheal.

No, we didn't get tickets first time round and lost interest - I'll watch a few things though. Sport is not a big thing for me.

hi Darcie Lock is amazing how do you write books like this? I need advice on how to write a book this good, Racheal!

Hello,mrs.golding.thanks for replying .I now understand her situation clearly.Ringmaster was one amazing book which had a perfect plot.I felt a little informal when I re-read my previous message.Excuse me for that. But in Empty Quarter, what happened to the other spoilt children as they were separated from 3 of the children aboard too?

Those children were sent back to carry news of abduction so they were OK.

Hi.i truly enjoyed this book but I just have one question about this book.when she met Archie .why did she do what she did?(I don't want to spoil the book for those who haven't read it yet.)I found it rather awkward because they just met at that moment.i get that she was trying to mingle with the others aboard but I didn't really take in that fact when I finished reading the book.(no offense).please reply to me.

She had to hide and look as though they knew each other better than they did.

hi Julia, I am a huge fan and I love your books. me and my friend were wondering if there would be a forth book in the series any time soon??????

Hi. I'd love to write one but I'd need to find time in my busy writing schedule and know I'd get a return on the time invested (that means enough downloads). Julia
