I really liked the book. The names and descriptions are beautiful! But I've got a question: Is there a special reason why you used the word 'Holt' so often, (like in HOLT, BurinHOLT and FelixHOLT) ?

Yes it means fortified town in the world of the book.

Hi Julia! I'm from Catalunya, Spain. I have only read one of your books, Dragonfly. I really loved it and I would like to know if The glass swallow is more or less like it. It is a thriller book, it's an adventure book, a romantic one...? I know that you are very busy but I'll be very grateful if you answer me! Thanks, Tania.

Hi Tania The Glass Swallow continues in the same world and contains some of the same characters so I think you might enjoy it. It has a romance but the plot is focussed on adventure. Julia

Just out of curiosity, what is Peri's birth name and how old is he? I don't think either was mentioned in The Glass Swallow.

He is 18 I think during the course of the novel. He hasn't told me his birth name but I think it is the same as his father, hence the nickname.

Oh My God! i love your books! and yes.. my name is Rain too.. i was so happy when i found out you wrote a companion book of dragonfly. i loved that book! it made me laugh. but what made me more shocked was that the main character in glass swallow is the same as mine! haha! what a coincidence! i was screaming so loud when Peri screamed "Rain" . it felt like he screamed my name ! but anyways.. thank you Julia Golding. You definitely should write more stories than this :D We all Love you ♥

Thanks, Rain.

I absolutely loved dragonfly! I can't wait to read the glass swallow. Dragonfly was a "lone star" (basically newer book that Texas recommends you read for junior high students) and so many of them are excellent books with romance and action and they are amazing. I love all the action in dragonfly. This is now one of my favorite books. Thanks, Jade

Thanks, Jade.

I LOVED Dragonfly! I didn't even know that there was the Glass Swallow. I'm totally going to read it. I bet both of them'll be on my wish list when I'm finished. I also liked the Companion Quartet but I loved this more. I recommended it to my friend and she finished it the day I recommended it. Please write more novels and books! :)

Thanks, Kelly.

Dear Julia, I absolutely love these two amazing books. I'm an aspiring writer myself and your books inspire me. They are my favorite books and you are one of my favorite authors. You touch on subjects most people shy away from, like cultures and government. Continue writing in this series because I will read every one of them! BTW how do you come up with these characters. and how do they always seem to fit together so perfectly?

Writing is not a logical process, more instinctive. I think I follow a bread crumb trail of impressions to come up with characters if you understand what I'm getting at! Thanks for taking time to write.

Will there be any more of these books? I would like to know more about Ice Archepalago...(hint hint) Izzy

We'll have to see!

Hi! I love all your books (But especially Cat Royal) and I was wondering how many children to Tashi and Ramil have, what are they called and how old are they at the time of The Glass Swallow? Thanks, Izzy

I've not written that story but they had at least two by the time of Glass Swallow - one of whom (Lagan) is a friend Retsam.

Hi Julia, Loved these books and just want to read more. I've already lent the book to all my friends who love them just as much. We would love for you to write more like this!

Thanks.

Hi Julia! I absolutely love all of your books! I just have a question about Dragonfly. Where did the inspiration for the dragonfly come from? Why that animal? The reason I ask is because my family loves dragonflies, so it was just funny that a book I was reading was all about that. Thank you! Linnea

Hi I was inspired by the poem I quote at the front - they are magical creatures.

I am 11 but last time I read dragonfly I didn't get into it it was a year ago should I try it again?

You could try but maybe this kind of fantasy isn't your thing? I write lots of different sorts of books so don't expect everyone to like everything. I would have thought Dragonfly appeals to those who like adventure with a touch of romance.

Julia Golding is one of my favorite authors ever! One small question, will the Glass Swallow be released in the United States. A disadvantage of mine is that all the books I look forward to reading are released in the UK first!

Good news: out in the States now.

My 2 favorite books ever. I have read both books so many times i can't remember! Are there going to be any other books like this in the future (based in the same areas)? I love all your books

Probably - I often return to things when a new idea strikes.
